Food for Life - Gold Catering

People who care about your catering

Our people are, without doubt, our greatest asset. They play a key role in providing you with a catering service you can rely on, so you can concentrate on providing education.

Each school has its own Operations Manager to oversee their catering – including assessing each team member’s current skills, highlighting their strengths and identifying any training that’s needed. For example, they’ll make sure Kitchen Assistants have the required NVQs, and that they and your Catering Supervisor attend HACCP, Health & Safety, Level 2 Healthier Food & Special Diets and Level 2 Allergen Awareness courses, plus service development days if necessary.

With Fresh, all kitchen staff have a minimum of Level 2 Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, COSHH, Health & Safety and HACCP training.

Your in-school team will have a clear hierarchy so everyone knows what they’re responsible for, and they’ll be supported by the rest of the Fresh team back in Crewe. They offer specialist support in areas such as Food Development, Procurement, Kitchen Design and Maintenance, Environmental Health, Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Human Resources.

Passing on our passion for food

When we talk about working in partnership with your school, we mean just that. At Fresh, we like to take a very active role in both promoting and educating about nutrition, healthy eating and exercise.

To do that, we produce a whole host of in-school materials from menus to posters, and regularly get feedback from children and parents about our food and service. We also take part in school events such as parents’ evenings to highlight what we do, and communicate with parents, staff and governors to make sure the service we provide for your school does everything you need it to.

Our aim is to create a knowledge and enthusiasm for food in schools, providing future generations with the right experience to help them appreciate its importance for the rest of their lives. And, of course, to make sure your school meals service becomes a sustainable and efficient part of school life.

Some of our brilliant testimonials from schools and parents

As a school we have worked alongside Fresh Cheshire East Catering Services on a bespoke service to raise the quality of our school lunches and provide more choice for pupils. An increased number of meals by pupils has helped our UFSM uptake, and communication between school and caterer has been excellent, raising standards for all! The presentation of meals within the school has also improved through their help with equipment.

Havannah Primary School, Congleton

Fresh Cheshire East Catering Services have always supplied our children with high quality meals, and we have found them to be reliable and responsive to our needs as well as the new Food Standards. The quality of both service and food is continually improving; we love the flexibility they offer and so do our children and parents. Lunchtime is a special time at Elworth Hall and this is due to the partnership we enjoy with Fresh Cheshire East Catering.
